01
Situation

Operating context

PPI needed a scalable B2B commerce channel that exposed controlled product information, respected customer and account rules, supported digital ordering and mobile use, and connected reliably to internal product, inventory, customer, and order systems.

02
Challenge

What made the work difficult

The platform had to give customers a usable catalog and checkout while respecting internal account, product, inventory, pricing, shipping, and payment rules. Changes also needed careful testing, release coordination, and architecture review.

03
Dean's role

Responsibility and authority

Dean acted as executive product and business-process owner, defining UX and operating requirements, prioritizing issues and changes, participating in testing and release governance, and challenging architecture decisions that could increase operating risk or infrastructure dependence. Programming, hosting, payment services, and implementation execution remained shared.
