My manufacturing work has ranged from hands-on engineering and automation through executive responsibility for plants, labor, product transfer, quality systems, and operating economics. I tend to look at the factory as a connected system rather than a collection of isolated departments or machines.
That means asking how product design affects labor, how information reaches the floor, where quality controls belong, what should be automated, how materials and suppliers constrain flow, and whether the operating model actually supports the required mix, volume, and service level.
